The possibility of “could”

Written by Suraj Shah

We spend so much time placing expectations and demands on the world around us.

  • You should have washed the dishes.
  • You should have made the bed.
  • You should have got that report out by 9am.
  • The roads should have no potholes.

With expectations comes a need to control. When expectations are not met, we get frustrated and irritated.

With frustration comes heaviness. Heaviness ties us down and binds us to more trouble.

With “should” comes expectations, disappointment and heaviness.

With “could” comes possibility, wonder and lightness.

Shift the “should” to “could”.  Life will feel lighter.
